CAT’s Main Adoption Room Went Under the Saw for a Much Needed Face Lift
On August 5 and 6, CAT installed new, state-of-the-art stainless steel cat cages in its main adoption room on the second floor of its Sherwood shelter.
You thought remodeling your kitchen was hard! CAT undertook this installation in two phases – installing 30 kennels each day. All while providing quality care for the cats temporarily displaced by this upgrade.
The new cat cages replaced the original kennels CAT used when it opened over 10 years ago. Constructed from particle board and glass, they were not designed to last this long and it is a credit to CAT’s staff and volunteers for being able to keep them clean and functional this long.
These new cages will be easier to clean and reduce the spread of disease. The cats will be more comfortable in these larger cages, and potential adopters will have an easier time viewing all the cats available for adoption as they form a square box around a staff work area. Clients will walk around all the cages while staff and volunteers work from the inside of the room to clean, feed, and care for the cats.
