Volunteer Orientations

Thank you for your interest in volunteering to help our community’s homeless and injured cats and kittens!

Attending our volunteer orientation is one of the first steps to volunteer at CAT.  During orientation, you will be given a general introduction of the history and mission of CAT, a tour of the shelter, and an overview of the many volunteer opportunities available.  Volunteers need to be at least twelve years old; volunteers between twelve and fifteen years of age must be accompanied by a parent who makes the same volunteer commitment; please note that there are no exceptions.

To receive an invitation to our next new volunteer orientation, please submit a volunteer application to our volunteer manager.  You can submit a volunteer application on-line by going to the Volunteer Application section of our website and clicking on the link to the online volunteer application; this is our preferred method of receiving applications.  Or, you can download the application from our website and send the completed application to us by mail or fax (503.925.8888), attention Volunteer Services Manager, or just drop it off at the shelter.  We will contact you with an invitation to the next volunteer orientation. 

Groups
CAT welcomes groups for one time and ongoing special projects. To ensure we use your group’s time wisely, please contact our Voluneer Services Manager directly for more information at 503-925-8903.

Community Service
It is usually possible to fulfill court-ordered community service at CAT; however, community service work is not a component of our volunteer program.  Those wishing to perform community service at CAT should contact the shelter directly, at 503-925-8903.  We invite those who have finished community service obligations to volunteer through our volunteer program at that time.  Thank you for wanting to become part of the team and helping us save lives.
