Loving Legacy Program

At CAT, we protect the human-animal bond and make lifetime commitments to our pets. Responsible pet owners, like yourself, not only worry about the well-being of their pets now, but think ahead and want to do everything possible to ensure that their pets continue to be safe, healthy and loved in the future.

Through our “Loving Legacy” program, CAT offers the security of a safe place and the knowledge that your cat will be taken care of in a loving environment while awaiting adoption into a caring lifetime home that is carefully selected and made available as soon as possible. Our unique on-site full service veterinary hospital provides assurance that your cat will receive state of the art preventive and medical care as needed.

While the Cat Adoption Team asks that you provide a $2,500 minimum bequest per cat enrolled in the “Loving Legacy” Program, we understand that some people do not have the resources to provide large endowments or trusts for their animals while others have been generously blessed and are able to leave enough in their will for their own animals with some left over to cover the costs of those less fortunate. For this reason, we only ask for a $100 enrollment fee per cat in the Cat Adoption Team’s “Loving Legacy” Program. Upon your passing, we ask that you leave what you can knowing that all funds will be used to care for your pet with any left over being used to help other pets in need.

Enrolling Your Cat into the “Loving Legacy” Program
• Specify in your will that your pet is to be entrusted to the Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood, Oregon. The language should read, “At the time of my death, I give, devise, and bequeath my cat enrolled in the “Loving Legacy” program to the Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood, Oregon (EIN# 20-0773189) for placement into a loving home.” Clearly state the bequest amount of funds and what form they are in (cash, stock, life insurance, etc.) that is to be designated to the Cat Adoption Team on a per cat basis.

• Designate a friend, neighbor, relative or the executor of your estate to act as an interim caretaker and to contact the Cat Adoption Team for the best way to handle the transfer. Always carry a card in your wallet letting people know that you have animals at home that depend on your care.

• Complete the Loving Legacy Program Enrollment Form (pdf) providing information about your pet’s behavior, likes and dislikes, habits and special needs.

• Send a copy of the “Loving Legacy” program enrollment form, copies of your pet’s medical records and your enrollment fee to the Cat Adoption Team and keep a copy with your will. Please provide yearly updated veterinary records, if possible. If you have multiple cats, please fill out a Pet Profile Form for each one.

We hope that you find this program fitting for your pet, and that the peace of mind gained through the enrollment will alleviate any concerns you might have about the future of your companion.
